SAINTS &
SINNERS
on the road...

There is always something deeply touching when someone shares their vulnerability, and especially when speaking of a personal path to faith. Words and music combined, moved me to tears.

About
“So who’s the sinner?”, he asked, “we both are,” I replied. “Then who’s the saint?” “We both are…. on the road… to becoming…”
John Holmstrom and Dominic Dring go back a long way. We first met in John’s soul band in the early 80’s. From that time our lives have been entwinned in music, work for homeless people, prison work, family life, faith journey and, yes, more music.

Propelled by a growing sense that there is a better way – a social order that does not punish disadvantage but brings compassion, dignity, mercy and a fair share to those who have grown accustomed to not expecting any of it.
We are Christians. Dominic - Roman Catholic, a Permanent Deacon, and full-time prison chaplain; and John - Anglican, an Oxford Theology graduate, church organist, and CEO of Turning Tides, a Sussex housing and homelessness charity. But ultimately, we both recognise that we are on a bumpy road to heaven. Our roads sometimes look quite similar and other times very different, but its good to travel together…

‘Saints and Sinners on the road’ is an attempt to share a little of our journey in the hope that we will meet fellow travellers and, in some small way, give encouragement to those who are flagging or maybe searching. ‘Saints and Sinners on the road’ is an evening of music – some jazz, classical, ballads and uplifting worship songs – interspersed with personal sharings of our journeys on the road…

We are all, we believe, saints and sinners on the road to heaven.

Come join us and share the journey for a while….

Dominic and John are joined by Elisha Dring (vocals), Francis Dring (cajon and vocals) and Rosemary McIntosh (vocals).

A well presented ecumenical gospel-proclaiming event, enjoyed by young and old, churchgoers and non-churchgoers alike.

A great chilled out evening with quality musicianship and superb voices. Storytelling and moving music mixed with believable and relatable tales of two friends and their journeys of faith. Excellent.

So moving and so beautifully produced - something I shall remember for a long time. The deep sense of awe, reverence, praise and wonder that you created. Altogether a real privilege to be there.
What an evening!
